A lot of the clients that I serve are expecting mothers in the Huntsville, Alabama area. In light of the audience I serve, I wanted to share a few tips that I’ve come across (whether through my own experience or speaking with qualified professionals) that may help you as you begin your search for Huntsville OBGYN.
1- Know who is in your insurance’s network
This usually means insurance will cover more of their fees. To find a provider in your network, usually a good place to start is your insurance provider’s website.
2- Get OB reviews from friends, family, and others.
If you don’t have any personal recommendations available, you can always ask local Facebook mom groups! People are usually open to sharing experiences with providers.
3- What type of personality do you feel most comfortable with?
Growing and delivering a baby is no little feat; you can possibly make this journey easier by finding a provider that you feel meets your personality and communication style.
4-Pay attention to your OBGYN practice’s policies
Will you be meeting with your provider regularly or will you meet with members of the coordinated care team? What is the standard for handling after hours questions? Who would deliver your baby should your OB or midwife not be on call when you go into labor?
The above points are not in any sense the sum total of all you should consider, but are a great starting point! If you have any additional thoughts, I’d love to hear them!
