Welcome to my blog and website; thank you for being here! As a Huntsville Photographer, I work with clients all the time on selecting outfits for their photography session. Now, I want to create a resource for you as you prepare for your fall family photography session. First up, let’s go over some of my notes based off of experience. Then I’ll share the beautiful outfits for mom to choose from.
Note 1- There are so, so many outfit options and variety in pattern and color BUT- it can be hard to find an outfit that is comfortable or fits right. I typically recommend clients start with choosing the outfit for mom as this outfit selection process has more variables involved compared to other members of the family.
Note 2- You need to consider the location when selecting your outfits. If your photography session takes place during peak fall foliage time, then the background of your photos will likely have a lot of reds, oranges, yellows, or tans. So, to avoid overpowering your images with those colors, I usually say try to avoid using *too much* of those colors in your outfit ensembles! Those are favorite color picks during fall so understandably you may want them in your outfits. Just make sure to get with your photographer who should help you to balance out all the colors.
Note 3- Women’s dresses typically offer the best patterns in my opinion. It’s harder to find patterns in men’s/boys shirts to coordinate with. I always like to have 1-2 people wearing a pattern to develop depth in a photo. But also, wearing texture (like wearing a cardigan), helps a lot too.
