Welcoming your baby into the world and your home is one of the biggest moments of your life. Photographing those early newborn days through professional newborn photos is a special way to preserve those memories. Here are a few of my tips on Prepare for a Huntsville AL Newborn Session so you have a stress-free and enjoyable time!
I usually recommend that clients get on my calendar for a newborn session during their second trimester. This gives you the best chance of booking a spot with me and also allows us time to plan your session before your baby arrives!
Most often, the best time to photograph newborns is between the first 7-14 days of their life. They are still extra sleepy at that point in time, which makes the session go more smoothly. With my clients, I aim to get all of the planning done prior to baby’s birth. This is so that once baby arrives, we just need to finalize the date and time of the session and we’re good to go!
It is important to keep in mind that during your newborn’s session, your newborn’s needs will always guide the flow of the session. You do not need to stress about feeding your baby right before or keeping them awake before the session. However, if you are able to, attempt to feed your sweet baby right before I arrive at your home OR right when you arrive at the studio. This is so that they have a full belly and can sleep most deeply. Dress your babe comfortably in loose fitting clothing to allow for easy outfit changes. Have paci’s and sound machines ready to go if used!
If you’ve decided to do an in home session with me, we will likely have decided this before baby arrives. We will also likely have discussed where in your home you want photos and how to find the rooms with the most ideal lighting and the timing of the session based off of where you want your photos to take place. This really is all you need to do! As a mom of 3, I know that tidiness takes the back burner when your baby arrives, so do not feel embarrassed or pressure to clean before I arrive.
